Welcome!

Teacher by day, Buff fanatic by night, and, actually throughout the school day also. I was raised in Boulder during the dark Chuck Fairbanks years by two University of Michigan alums. I knew "Go Blue!" long before "Go Buffs!", but when a relatively unknown defensive coordinator was hired to lead the Buffs, my interest was slightly piqued. By the time I reached high school Bill McCartney was building a solid foundation with homegrown talent like Jon Embree and I remember the day in 1986 when Boulder celebrated the win over Nebraska. In college I sold beer, watched Coach Mac win a championship, Rashaan Salaam win a Heisman and I was hooked forever. When Jon Embree was hired, I renewed my season tickets and hit the practice rail. I wrote up a few things for some relatives, forwarded them to a few friends, and then made it a blog. Now I find writing about my Buffies is fun, more informative and therapy! I'll post a few times a week during the season, less in the offseason, with news, musings and links. Go Buffs!

Game Day Grazing-CSU

·        Although the stadium will not be full, there should be many more Buffs fans than Lamb fans to keep a psuedo home field advantage.  And even though many season ticket holders cannot stand the Denver experience, hopefully most made sure they were replaced by a die-hard Buff!  Let’s rock….whatever they call it!
·        The Camera has Dannewitz listed as starter at LT, with Tau at RT.
·        They also have Orms listed as starting CB opposite Sandersfeld (both converted safeties)-it looked like that’s who usually was in with only 2 CBs, which we are likely to see a little more of that formation today.  I still think Greg Henderson is the best all-around corner we have and it will show as he continues to develop.
·        Tyler actually did spread the ball around to 9 different receivers last week, but only 2 of those caught more than 2 (Richardson and Speedy).
·        In the last 8 games P-Rich has 41 receptions for 783 yards (333 this year-tied for the lead in the country) and 10 TDs (2 in each game this year).
·        Tom Moe at RalphieReport states that after re-watching the game the refs also called 2 phantom procedure calls, called two should-be-receptions incomplete and had some other questionable calls, including numerous, long huddles, that were never fully clarified.
·        Additionally, Cal probably did tip Darragh O’Neil’s punt late in the game; however, it looks like Paul Vigo also actually tipped the ball slightly when he was called for roughing the kicker.  With Pericak’s PAT block, special teams are starting to make a little noise, just not in the obvious places.
·        The team is still only listing Bahktiari and Dannewitz as questionable/day-to-day, so they don’t want CSU to know anything.  We will likely see some type of rotation at the tackles no matter what with Sione Tau probably starting at RT, likely some PT and possibly a start for Alex Kelley (who has recovered completely from the flu, regained almost all the weight he lost which was mostly due to dehydration), and maybe even someone else, if both of the first two above are out.
·        CSU’s wins are pretty weak: had to come back late to beat New Mexico and then finally took down former CU backup walk-on QB Seth Lobato and UNC.
·        At least two captains, S Anthony Perkins and QB Tyler Hansen have said this is a must win and I agree.
·        Dan Hawkins was soooo bad…How bad was he?  Not only did he lose games like Montana St. and Toledo, he lost 2 games in 5 years against CSU?!  One in ten is not even acceptable.  And those were not even the actually formidable BVP teams of Sonny Lubick.  Embree stops that embarrassing trend right here and now today!
·        Here is RalphieReport’s “Reference Tool Box” with all their CSU links http://www.ralphiereport.com/2011/9/16/2429837/colorado-buffaloes-colorado-state-rams-reference-tool-box
·        AllBuffs’ Buffnik’s uncensored preview: http://www.allbuffs.com/content.php/1038-A-really-******-preview-of-the-Colorado-vs-CSU-game  because you know its sucks to be a CSU ram…
GO BUFFS!
